The Muslim Lecturers Association of Nigeria (MLA) has unveiled a new logo as part of efforts to strengthen its identity and reposition the association for greater impact in scholarship, ethical leadership and national development.
The logo was unveiled during a virtual ceremony held on July 24 via Zoom under the theme, “Identity, Knowledge and Service: Unveiling the New Face of MLA Nigeria.”
Muslim News gathered that the event attracted members of the association from universities and other higher institutions across the country.
Speaking at the ceremony, the President of the association, Prof. AbdWasiu Olabamiji Ajagbe, described the unveiling as a major milestone in the history of the MLA, saying the new identity symbolises a renewed vision, fresh energy and a stronger commitment to excellence.
Prof. Ajagbe said the rebranding reflected the association’s strategic direction and would be incorporated into its programmes, communication platforms, partnerships and other operations.
According to him, the initiative is aimed at repositioning the association for greater relevance and impact in advancing academic excellence, ethical leadership and national development.
He reiterated that the association would continue to focus on mentoring younger academics, promoting networking among members and advancing intellectual and professional development.
“This unveiling signifies a new spirit, serving Allah through scholarship and purpose,” Ajagbe said, urging members to contribute ideas, resources and active participation towards the growth of the association.
Also speaking, a member of the association’s Council of Guidance and Professor at the University of Lagos, Prof. Tajudeen Yusuf, said the new identity represented more than a change of logo, describing it as a strategic step towards strengthening the position of Muslim scholars in Nigeria.
He stressed the need to bridge existing gaps within academic institutions and encouraged members to remain visible and relevant by participating actively in platforms that promote both academic excellence and Islamic identity.
In his keynote address, the immediate past President of the association, Prof. Ahmed Adedeji, called on members and stakeholders to support the new initiative, expressing confidence that the association would achieve greater success through unity and collective commitment.
Explaining the rationale behind the redesign, the association’s Director of Information, Publicity and Community Service, Dr. Kamoru Salaudeen, said the previous logo had served the organisation well but inconsistencies in its usage and design made a review necessary.
According to him, the new logo is intended to improve the association’s public image, ensure consistency in branding, strengthen institutional integrity and enhance its digital visibility.
The association also announced that its 2026 National Research Conference will hold at Fountain University, Osogbo, Osun State, from October 26 to 29.
It expressed appreciation to the Vice Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Olayinka Ramota Kareem, for accepting to host the conference.
