In its quest to inspire Nigerian youths towards becoming highly effective leaders, the Medical Wing of the Guild of Muslim Professionals (GMP) is set to organise the 2018 edition of its Youth Leadership Workshop.
Slated for Sunday, October 14, the second edition of the annual workshop will hold at the CIPM Centre, Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos, between 8: 30am and 4:30pm.
It is a collaborative effort between the GMP, the Islamic Medical Association of Nigeria (IMAN), Lagos Chapter and the Muslim Pharmacists Association of Nigeria (MPAN), Lagos Chapter.
Muslim News‘ findings revealed that five erudite resource persons have been invited to speak at the workshop, on the theme: “The Entrepreneurial Healthcare Professional: Charting the Way Forward”
They are Dr Jubril Salahudeen, the Managing Director of Citiserve Ltd; Dr AbdulGafar Jawando, CEO, Firmcare Diagnostics and Dr Mohammed Salisu, Consultant Paediatrician and Chief Imam, LASUTH.
Others are Pharm Sesan Kareem, Founder/CEO Mareek Concepts and Hajia Kifaya Adeniyi (Mompreneur), a Niqobi who is changing the narrative for Muslim women in Hijab on social media.
In an exclusive interview with Muslim News, the Chairman, Planning Committee, Dr Yusuf Kamiyo said, though the workshop is for youths in the health professions, participants from humanities and management are expected to grace the event.
According to him, fresh graduates who are five years post-graduation and below, undergraduate health students and potential mentors are not left out. We want to equip them with necessary skills and attitudes towards becoming icons.
“The workshop will also feature a panel session and group work session. Certificates will be awarded to successful participants”, Dr Kamiyo added.
Prof Abdulsamiu Musa, MD, FMC Abeokuta, Ogun State is the Chairman of the occasion.
Invited guests of honour are Dr Mustapha Alimi, MD, National Orthopaedic Hospital, Igbobi and Chairman, Islamic Medical Association of Nigeria, Lagos Chapter; Pharm Lekan Asuni, MD Lephas Pharmaceuticals and Chairman, Muslim Pharmacists Association of Nigeria, Lagos Chapter and Alhaji Akeem Oyewale, Chairman BOT, Guild of Muslim Professionals.
