* Haroun tops class in Cell Biology/Genetics after four failed attempts to study Medicine
* Says height attained by Allah’s favours, individual efforts
The Muslim Students Society of Nigeria has recorded once again another academic feat as one of its members, Damilare Haroun Adebakin emerged the overall best graduating student at the University of Lagos (UNILAG) with a perfect score of 5.00 Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA).
Adebakin alongside another student, Samuel Akinade Badekale, both from the department of Cell Biology and Genetics, Faculty of Science, were declared joint overall best graduating students at the 55th convocation held on Tuesday, 15th January.
Muslim News gathered that the duo were among the 9,684 students who completed their first degrees and diplomas during the 2022/2023 academic session while 6,659 were awarded postgraduate degrees with 66 graduating from the UNILAG Business School (ULBS).
In an interview with Daily Sun, Adebakin explained how he landed in Cell Biology.
He said: “I wanted to study Medicine and Surgery. But life can be so unscripted and very dynamic. In fact, I kept on applying for Medicine and Surgery for four years. At the fourth year, I gained admission to study Cell Biology and Genetics at the University of Lagos and decided to take the opportunity.”
He gave credit to Almighty Allah for his stellar performance, saying that success is a blessing from Allah.
“The secret? First, one must acknowledge that all blessings are granted by Allah and not rely on himself at all. Heights are attained by a combination of Allah’s favours with an individual’s efforts. I consider myself a product of grace.
Watch out for the full interview…
Haroun May Allah SWT continue to bless you abundantly and you are a pride to the Umma. May Allah SWT make you attain enviable heights and become a global figure. May Allah SWT produce more Harouns in MSSN.
